Will you help us save Florida’s world-class fisheries?
If you’ve ever hooked up to a wintering snook in the mangroves of the St. Lucie, or stalked a tarpon across the flats of Islamorada, you already know how special these places are. As a result of decades of bad water management, billions of gallons of damaging freshwater discharges from Lake Okeechobee have been forced east and
west, drowning the St. Lucie and Caloosahatchee estuaries and triggering toxic algal blooms that threaten sea life and human health. Conversely, without a natural southern outlet for water, Everglades National Park and Florida Bay have been starved of the freshwater needed to combat catastrophic seagrass die offs and threats of saltwater
intrusion on Miami’s Biscayne Aquifer– the drinking water source for 8 million Floridians. There is a solution. The Now Or Neverglades Declaration addresses sending clean, freshwater south by way of a properly designed, dynamic reservoir that would divert the water from where is it currently wasted and restore the flow to where it’s needed. We need you to join the thousands of anglers, conservation groups, outdoors brands and
individuals who have signed on, supporting the science-based solution to send clean water south. Only then will we guarantee a legacy of clean water and healthy fisheries for all future generations.
